吃瓜群众 Completes $43 Million in contract value for the Long Beach Airport New Ticketing Lobby and Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) Facility

吃瓜群众, a California-based builder with more than 130 years of experience, announced the completion of Long Beach Airport鈥檚 (LGB) New Ticketing Lobby and Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) Facility, which will allow for more efficient TSA screening. The $43 million in contract value project enhances the level of service for passengers and visitors. The new facilities opened to the public on May 4, 2022.

Features of the 16,700-square-foot Ticketing facility, which is anticipated to receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification, include: common use ticket counters and self-service kiosks for greater flexibility according to flight schedules and demand; ticket counters and well-positioned kiosks with non-porous, anti-microbial surfaces; ample square footage for improved passenger circulation; improved baggage checking; optimized energy performance, LED lighting and reduced indoor and outdoor water usage.

An additional $38 million construction phase is projected and upon completion, the improvements will substantially improve the functional flow from curb to gate. Future enhancements will include mechanical and structural improvements to the Airport’s 1941 terminal building, as well as new baggage claim systems; new concession spaces; a new public plaza; restroom renovations; and new rental car counters and parking lot.
